Participation

Although the UArctic Congress 2026 is still months away, we are very happy to hear that people are already starting to plan their travels to the Faroe Islands! More information will be published later on these pages, but to quickly address a couple potential concerns you might have:

Accommodation

The local organizers have made block reservations at all hotels in Tórshavn and around, and the rooms will be released for participant bookings when the Congress registration opens. However, participants are welcome to contact the hotels directly and make their reservations already now. We recommend booking early, as hotel capacity in Tórshavn is limited and rooms may sell out quickly.

Below is an overview of hotels in and around Tórshavn that participants may contact directly for accommodation during the Congress.

Hotel Føroyar: Oyggjarvegur 45, 100 Tórshavn

Hotel Tórshavn: Tórsgøta 2, 100 Tórshavn

Hotel Hilton Garden Inn: Staravegur 13, 100 Tórshavn

Hotel Hafnia: Áarvegur 4-10, 100 Tórshavn

Hotel Brandan: Oknarvegur 2, 100 Tórshavn

Hotel Djurhuus: Yviri við Strond 19, 100 Tórshavn

Hotel Vágar: Djúpheiðar, 380 Sørvágur

How to travel

You can fly non-stop to the Faroe Islands from various destinations, including Copenhagen, Paris, Reykjavik, London, Edinburgh, Oslo, and Bergen. For North American travellers, convenient connections are available through Iceland. If there are no direct flights from your chosen departure airport, airlines can offer connections via several gateway airports – full details are available on the airline’s website, Atlantic Airways, Icelandair, Scandinavian Airlines, and Widerøe AS. Depending on the route, it generally takes around 2hr30min to fly directly to the Faroe Islands – though some routes, such as Edinburgh and Reykjavík, take little over an hour.

If flights to the Faroe Islands around the arrival days are getting full, the local airline will add more flights.
