Welcome to Tórshavn - the charming capital of the Faroe Islands.
During UArctic Congress 2026, several shops in Tórshavn will extend their opening hours, including on the public holidays Sunday 24 May and Monday 25 May, to welcome Congress participants and visitors to the city.
Below you will find practical visitor information and an overview of selected opening hours during the Congress week.

Extended opening hours
Saturday, 23 May
Most shops in Tórshavn are open from 10:00–16:00.
Sunday, 24 May
Most shops are closed, but the following shops will be open:
H.N.J. Bookstore, Vaglið 4: 14:00–18:00
Navia, Vágsbotnur 4: 14:00–18:00
Einstakt, Niels Finsens gøta 10: 14:00–17:00.
Monday, 25 May
Most shops are closed, but the following shops will be open:
H.N.J. Bookstore, Vaglið 4: 10:00–16:00
Navia, Vágsbotnur 4: 10:00–16:00
Østrøm, Skálatrøð 18: 12:00–16:00
Visit Tórshavn, Niels Finsens gøta 17: 12:00–17:00
Einstakt, Niels Finsens gøta 10: 13:00–16:00
Tuesday, 26 May – Friday, 29 May
The following shops will extend their opening hours until 19:00:
H.N.J. Bookstore: Until 19:00
Navia: Until 19:00
Wednesday Evening, 27 May
Hotel Føroyar will offer a buffet dinner on Wednesday 27 May from 18:30.
The dinner will be served as shared table seating, and participants are encouraged to book in advance.
Price: DKK 595 per person, including coffee and tea.
