Transport options from Vágar Airport to Tórshavn are somewhat limited, so additional transport solutions have been arranged for participants arriving for UArctic Congress 2026.

Congress Airport Shuttle Buses – 25 May

For participants arriving to the Faroe Islands on Monday 25 May, a dedicated airport shuttle service has been arranged between Vágar Airport and Tórshavn. When booking, participants simply select the flight route they are arriving with.

We strongly encourage participants to book their shuttle bus tickets as soon as possible, as this helps us plan capacity and arrange additional buses if needed.

Public Transport

Public transport is operated by SSL, with buses running between the airport and Tórshavn several times a day (approximately seven departures on weekdays and four on weekends and public holidays). Please note that these departures are not specifically timed to match flight arrivals. Travel cards for 4 and 7 days are available at the Information Desk at the airport.

Airport Shuttles Taxis

Alternatively, we recommend booking an airport shuttle with one of the local taxi companies, such as Auto or Taxi Bil. This should be arranged well in advance, as availability can be limited (please note that you should book an airport shuttle rather than a regular taxi, as taxis are significantly more expensive).
