Practical Information: Transport, Name Badge Pick-Up and More

21 May 2026
As UArctic Congress 2026 and the Ocean Connectivity Conference are fast approaching, we would like to share some practical information to help you prepare for your stay in the Faroe Islands.

Getting to Tórshavn from Vágar Airport

Airport Shuttle Buses – 25 May

For participants arriving in the Faroe Islands on Monday 25 May, a dedicated airport shuttle bus service has been arranged between Vágar Airport and Tórshavn. When booking, participants simply select the flight route they are arriving with.

Read more and purchase your ticket here.

We strongly encourage participants to book shuttle bus tickets as soon as possible, as this helps us plan capacity and arrange additional buses if needed.

Airport Shuttles Taxis

Alternatively, we recommend booking an airport shuttle with one of the local taxi companies, such as Auto or Taxi Bil. This should be arranged in advance, as availability can be limited (please note that you should book an airport shuttle rather than a regular taxi, as taxis are significantly more expensive).

Public Transport

Public transport is operated by SSL, with buses running between the airport and Tórshavn several times a day (approximately seven departures on weekdays and four on weekends and public holidays).

Please note that these departures are not specifically timed to match flight arrivals. See more here.

Getting to and from the venue

Shuttle Buses

To make transportation to and from the Congress venue as convenient as possible, shuttle buses will operate throughout the Congress days, starting on Tuesday morning from Bursatangi (the harbour located in the centre of Tórshavn and within walking distance of many hotels), Hotel Brandan, Hotel Føroyar, and Hilton Garden Inn (please note that the bus will stop by the main road).

Read more, view the time table and get your shuttle bus pass here.

Other Transport Options

Participants may also wish to consider renting a car, using local taxi services, or cycling to the venue.

Read more here.

Getting around Tórshavn

City buses in Tórshavn (Bussleiðin) are free of charge and provide an easy way to get around the city. Routes and timetables are available here.

If you are staying outside Tórshavn, most towns and villages across the Faroe Islands are connected by the public transport network operated by SSL (Strandfaraskip Landsins).

Name Badges

You can collect your name badge already on 25 May at the Atlantic Airways Welcome Home reception at the National Football Stadium from 16:00 –18:00. Please provide your confirmation number, which can be found in your confirmation email from enjoy@verk.fo.

You can also find your confirmation number by logging in to the UArctic Congress 2026 Web App here and selecting “Registration Receipt”.

Otherwise, name badges can be picked up in the main entrance at the congress venue Við Tjarnir. The venue will open at 8:00 on 26 May, and registration desks will be open for the entirety of the Congress.

UArctic Congress 2026 Web App

Participants can access the UArctic Congress 2026 Web App to view registration details, explore the programme and purchase excursions.
