Strong Response to the Call for Abstracts

The Call for Abstracts for the UArctic Congress 2026 has now officially closed, and we are truly overwhelmed by the level of interest from across the globe
In total, 849 abstracts were submitted by 693 individual contributors, representing 37 countries worldwide. This remarkable response highlights both the relevance of the Congress themes and the strong international engagement with Arctic research, education, and collaboration.
Submissions were received from all parts of the Circumpolar North as well as from Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, and beyond. The highest number of abstracts came from Canada, Norway, Finland, the United States, Denmark, and the Faroe Islands, alongside strong representation from many other countries. This wide geographical spread reflects the truly global importance of Arctic issues and the role of the UArctic Congress as a key international meeting place.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to submit an abstract and contribute to shaping the scientific and thematic content of the Congress. The review process is now underway, and session owners are carefully assessing submissions to build a strong and diverse programme.
We look forward to welcoming participants to Tórshavn in May 2026 for what promises to be an engaging and inspiring Congress.
Given the very high level of interest and the limited accommodation capacity in Tórshavn, participants are strongly advised to book accommodation as early as possible once their participation is confirmed.
