Living with the Ocean Arrives in Tórshavn

The travelling exhibition Living with the Ocean has now arrived in Tórshavn as part of UArctic Congress 2026 and the Ocean Connectivity Conference.
Created by Lilli Mittner, Jorge Santos and many colleagues from UiT The Arctic University of Norway and organised together with the Municipality of Tórshavn - one of the main sponsors of the Congress - the exhibition invites both Congress participants and local residents to reflect on the relationship between people, oceans, and the future of the Arctic.
The exhibition consists of 12 canvases – 11 printed works and one blank canvas where visitors are encouraged to draw their own visions for the future of the Arctic using the markers provided on site.
Over the past years, the exhibition has travelled across the world and has previously been displayed in Norway, Portugal, Belgium, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Greenland, and Canada before arriving in the Faroe Islands.
By placing the exhibition in central Tórshavn, the organisers hope to create an open and accessible space for dialogue and participation beyond the Congress venue itself.
The exhibition is already on display in Niels Finsens gøta in central Tórshavn and will remain open throughout the Congress days. The official opening takes place on Tuesday 26 May at 16:00.
